Wrestling vs Ellsworth Friday Jan 11th

The Minneapolis wrestlers improved to 7 – 0 for the season and improved their conference dual record to 3 – 0 last Friday night by defeating the Ellsworth Bearcats 42 – 25. Minneapolis jumped out to a 6 – 0 lead at 103lbs and never looked back. Ellsworth pulled to with in one winning the 112 Lb match by technical fall, but that was the last time the Bearcats would score a team point for the next eight matches.

John Corman 119 Lb Sophomore earned a major decision winning 14 – 1. At 125 Lbs Junior Dusty Greer also earned 4 team points for the Lions by defeating his opponent 15 – 1 .

Senior Tyler Hamilton pinned his opponent in the first period at 130 Lbs giving the team 6 more pts.

At 135 Lbs Freshman Zac Eaton won a hard fought match in the last 10 sec by a score of 5 – 3 adding 3 pts to the team score.

Adam Klein a 140 Lbs Sophomore won by pin in second period and Senior Cody Eaton added 6 more team pts at 145 with a first period pin.

152 Lbs Senior Alberto Contreras dominated his opponent winning 14 – 1 putting Minneapolis out of reach in the team race, but the Lions still weren’t done scoring. Sophomore Nicolas Torres won 5 -4 at 160 Lbs putting Minneapolis on top 42 – 5. In the 171 Lb match.

Junior Jacob Klein competed well, but came up short by a score of 8 -3at 171 Lbs.

In the 189 Lb match Andy Griffith fought hard but was not able to stop the Bearcat wrestler.

In the final two matches of the evening 215 Lbs and 285 Lbs the Bearcats won by forfeit due to Minneapolis sending some of their younger wrestlers to a Junior Varsity Tournament in Abilene making the final score 42 - 25 Minneapolis.

These wrestlers fight hard every time out, they are always worth the time to come see. The last home dual of the season is this Thursday Jan 17th against Marion and Lincoln at 5:00 pm.
